FAQs

What to expect

ellaROOT is rugged, pristine, awe-inspiring, spiritual, and we believe to be the perfect platform for visitors to find their center, re-adjust priorities, or simply escape for a bit. Please read the information below, as we believe it is important you are aware of the possibilities - and limitations - while visiting the Trumble Ranch property.

The Trumble Ranch is private property. To be in alignment with our mission, for your health and well-being, this place is a smoke, alcohol, drug-free property. Pets are not allowed, except ADA certified service dogs. We kindly ask that guests are appropriately clothed in all public areas in an effort to cultivate a safe and comfortable environment for guests from all cultures and ages.

We are committed to preserving this sacred land, that it may continue to be an oasis of peace and harmony, and make your stay an unforgettable experience.

Water/Electricity/Cell service?

At ellaROOT, we are happy to provide an environment free of outside distractions - which also means there is no electricity, cell service or running water at the ranch.

WATER: Fresh drinking water will be continuously available, however we can’t guarantee anything more than room-temperature water. We encourage you to bring water bottles, canteens, etc., as temperatures can get high, and humidity stays low. Trumble Ranch sits above 3.500 feet above sea level, and you may feel mild effects of that altitude.
ELECTRICITY: There is no electricity provided or available at the ranch, and we prefer that use of electronics at the ranch be kept to a minimum. Please be respectful of other retreat attendees, and wear earbuds/headphones if you must listen to music - but believe the rustling trees, and gentle river sounds are the perfect soundtrack to your visit!
CELL SERVICE: As you can expect by now, there is no reliable cell service at the ranch or even close vicinity. The closest cell service availability is an approximate 15-minute drive.

How will I be fed?

We’re thrilled to have an on-site chef - and will provide two meals daily (lunch and dinner). She’ll do her best to honor specific dietary requests - make sure you make those requests when registering! Various snacking and grazing options will be available during the day for your sustenance!

Are there restrooms/bathing facilities?

Due to the lack of running water, restroom and bathing facilities aren’t immediately apparent!
RESTROOMS: Several composting or portable toilets will be made available for visitors - and of course, you’ll be given as much privacy as needed! If desired, please bring your own biodegradable - toilet paper will be provided.
BATHING: we’ve discovered that the Trinity River is an excellent option for all things water-related, including bathing - there are numerous secluded sections of the river perfect for refreshing and cleaning up! Please be respectful of others - bathing/swimming in the buff can be liberating, but we recognize some patrons may not be comfortable with such activities. As we also practice “leave no trace” ethics, we recommend the following river-friendly products:

Is truck/car/RV camping allowed?

You might have figured out by now - the Trumble Ranch is a special place - and we’re committed to providing the least possible distractions from your peaceful visits. As such, the possibility of audible and visual vehicle noise (doors/trunks opening/closing, door lock beeps, lights, etc.) means that we will not allow truck/car/RV camping. There will be designated parking areas at the extreme south end of the ranch, but the rest of the ranch will be vehicle-free.

What about bugs and critters?

As you might expect, life in the mountains can be accompanied by all manner of creatures - common visitors and residents of the ranch and surround areas can include deer, lizards, skunks, lynx, bears, mountain lions, harmless river snakes, and rattlesnakes. The wildlife at the ranch has very little fear of humans, but with increased human activity the likelihood of unanticipated wildlife interaction is minimal. There is also a surprising lack of flying insects (read: mosquitos), but you will be fascinated by the nightly flight show of our resident dragonfly squadron on the river!
